When you first receive your new humidor, it’s important to resist the urge to immediately fill it with your prized cigar collection. The wood in your humidor, typically kiln-dried Spanish Cedar or Canadian Cedar needs to reach a humidity equilibrium of around 65% before it can properly maintain the moisture level of your cigars. If you skip this step and simply load up your humidor, the dry wood will actually absorb moisture from your cigars, ruining their flavor and quality.
To avoid this, it’s essential to re-humidify your humidor before its first use. Here’s how:
1. Filled with distilled water with a water tank in the bottom of the humidor.
2. Charge your humidor.
3. Insert your temperature and humidity required on the digital panel.
4. Close the lid.
