What’s the cigar?

1. Origin of cigar name
The English “Cigar” of cigars comes from the Spanish “Cigaro”. And “Cigaro” comes from “Siyar”, which means “tobacco” in Mayan.

2. Cigar composition
The main body of a cigar consists of three parts: filler, binder, and wrapper. These three parts are rolled from at least three kinds of tobacco leaves.

Different tobacco leaves will give cigars different shapes, and sizes, and bring different tastes and characteristics. Therefore, each brand of cigars has its own unique aroma and taste.

3. Types of cigars
Cigars are categorized by size and shape. The most common standard cigar is a cylindrical shape with a straight open end on one end and a round cap on the other, which needs to be cut off before smoking the cigar.

In the cigar industry, if a cigar is made with tobacco leaves produced in only one country, it is called “Puro”, which means “pure” in Spanish.

4. Cigar rolling
Cigar making can be divided into machine making, semi-machine making, and handmade. In general, no two cigars are exactly alike. Hand-rolling cigars is a skill, but in the eyes of those who understand cigars, it is an art.

According to the different rolling methods, cigars can be divided into three categories: handmade cigars, machine-made cigars, and semi-machine-made cigars.
A. Handmade (hand-rolled) cigars, also known as full-leaf rolled cigars. There are mainly two rolling methods: leaf bundle type and blade type. The filler, binder, and wrapper of the manual (hand-rolled) cigars are all hand-rolled by experienced cigar workers with simple tools. The hand-made cigar rollers wrap and stack the tobacco leaves, weigh the core tobacco to control the relevant ratio, and roll it into tobacco embryos. After shaping, turning, and other processes, the wrapper operation is carried out, and finally, the finished cigar is rolled.

B. Machine-made cigars. The whole cigar is machine-made from the inside to the outside. The filler is short, and usually made of fragmented tobacco leaves; the binder and wrapper are typically made of evenly processed tobacco leaves, which can produce different flavors, Concentrations,s and textures.

C. Semi-machine-made cigars, also known as half-leaf rolled cigars. The filler is machine-rolled into bundles, the binder is also machine-made, and the wrapper is then hand-rolled.

The best storage method is to put cigars in a container that can maintain a temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit and a humidity level of 72 degrees. The most convenient way is of course to buy a wooden humidor with a humidifier.

Making a high-quality handmade cigar requires more than 200 processes, including seed propagation, seed treatment, germination, seedling cultivation, transplantation, cultivation, topping, harvesting, drying, modulation, screening, fermentation, aging, configuration, and hand-rolling. the system, continued aging, sorting, boxing, etc.
What a cigar brings to cigar lovers is the enjoyment of taste buds and the aftertaste of culture and the stories behind it that have been baptized by time.
